His responsibilities include developing and executing the company’s vision and strategy, along with training development, instructor scheduling, OSHA Compliance and office management.

Mr. Giordano holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree, is a New York State Code Compliance Technician and has been a Firefighter & Technical Rescue Team member since 1984.

He is well versed in the regulations set forth by OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and various State Agencies.

Joseph Giordano is also President of Long Island Fire Technology, a Fire Department consulting company organized in 1993, that provides professional building pre-planning, mapping, dispatch database and code compliance services to Fire Departments.

His responsibilities include training development, overseeing all instruction presented by the company, and he is the lead Hazardous Materials Instructor.

Mr. Berna joined the FDNY in 1989, and was assigned to Special Operations in 1999, spending the last 6 years as a Lieutenant in HAZMAT Co. 1. He is a HAZMAT Specialist / Squad Leader for the FEMA USAR Team – NY Task Force 1, and a member of the National Incident Management Team, were he is trained as a Group Supervisor and Strike Team Leader for the National Wildfire Coordinating Group.

In addition to his HAZMAT Co. 1 duties, John is a lead instructor for the FDNY Hazardous Materials Training Center and an IAFF certified instructor. He has been assigned to high profile events such as the UN General Assembly, Republican National Convention and large sporting events for the US Tennis Association and Major League Baseball. John has also worked New York City security details for U.S. Presidents and high profile visiting foreign dignitaries.

John received his Master Exercise Practitioner certification (MEP) from the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD in 2007. He has also worked at the FDNY Center for Terrorism and Domestic Preparedness, designing and executing numerous table-top, functional and full scale exercises for both the FDNY and private clients such as Hilton Hotels, CNN, AIG, LIRR, New York Yankees, Kinder Morgan Liquid Terminals and the Suffolk County Fire Academy. John holds a BA from Dowling College.

Timothy Regan is a lead Hazardous Materials Instructor for Safety Consulting Group, Inc. Mr. Regan served as a Hazardous Materials Specialist in FDNY HAZMAT Co.1 for over 15 years prior to retiring in 2005. He was a member of the FEMA USAR – NY Task Force 1 HAZMAT Team, and is an IAFF Master Instructor. Tim now works for Con Edison as a member of the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Response Team, where he performs the role of Regulatory Liaison to the NRC, US Coast Guard, NYSDEC, NYCDEP and NYC OEM. He is tasked with writing, reviewing and testing various regulatory plans including: Facility Response Plans, Risk Management Plans, Emergency Response and Action Plans as well as Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans.

Mr. Regan is recognized by the US Coast Guard as a Qualified Individual (QI) for control, containment and clean-up of marine oil spills under CFR 33 154.1026. He is a member of Con Edison’s Chemical/Biological Weapons Response Team and continues to perform Fire Department and Private Industry Hazardous Materials training throughout the United Sates for the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF). Tim has been a member of the NFPA Chemical Protective Clothing Selection Committee, and has helped develop the FDNY CPC protocol and FDNY Hazardous Materials Technician program.
Tim Kelly is a lead Technical Rescue instructor for Safety Consulting Group, Inc. Mr. Kelly is a retired Lieutenant from FDNY Rescue Co. 4, with a total of 25 years of service for the FDNY, including 15 years within Special Operations Command.

Mr. Kelly was also a Lead Instructor at the FDNY Technical Rescue School and an Adjunct Instructor at the New York State Fire Academy, specializing in Confined Space Rescue, Trench Rescue, Structural Collapse, & Firefighter Survival. He has earned an Associates Degree in Fire Protection Technology from Suffolk Community College. Currently Tim is the Training Captain for Brookhaven National Lab Fire Department, Upton, NY.
Paul Rogers is a Hazardous Materials Instructor for Safety Consulting Group, Inc. Mr. Rogers started his emergency response career with the New York City Police Department in 1985. In 1993 he joined the FDNY and was assigned to HAZMAT Co. 1 in 1999. In 2004 he was promoted to Lieutenant and asked to head the FDNY Hazmat Training Center, where he has developed and presented numerous Hazmat related courses for the FDNY and other NYC agencies.

Mr. Rogers is a member of the NFPA 1991, 1992 and 1994 Chemical Protective Clothing Committees working with responders, industry and the military. He also works as a liaison between the FDNY and NYPD, FBI and Secret Service for Chemical, Biological and Radiological responses during the UN General Assembly and other high profile events held in New York City.
Kevin McEntyre is a Hazardous Materials Instructor for Safety Consulting Group, Inc. Mr. McEntyre has been a member of the FDNY since 1992. He is a Hazardous Materials Specialist working in HAZMAT Co. 1. and is a master instructor at the FDNY Hazmat Training Center

Mr. McEntyre has done extensive work in the field of radiation. He has worked with the Department of Homeland Security’s Domestic Nuclear Detection Office where he is part of the Radiological Spectrum Transfer Project. He also has done work with the United States Coast Guard in radiological detection.
Mathew Palmer is the lead Incident Command and Utility Hazard instructor for Safety Consulting Group, Inc. Mr. Palmer is a FEMA / U.S Department of Homeland Security Certified Instructor for the “NIMS” National Incident Management System training program. In addition to conducting training at all levels of the Incident Command System, Matt is an expert in the field of Natural Gas and Electrical Utility Emergencies and has been part of the Con Edison Incident Command team at some of the largest and most complex emergency incidents in New York City. Matt continues to complete instruction for multiple Fire Department agencies and private industry including the FDNY Officer’s course.
Mike Stein is an Incident Command and Utility Hazard Instructor for Safety Consulting Group. Mr. Stein is a retired Captain from FDNY were he served for 25 years. He spent four years as the Director of the FDNY Research & Development Unit and was the supervising officer of the Emergency Operations Center. Mike is a communications expert, he has spent time in the FDNY Communications Unit and is still a communications consultant to the FDNY. He is a licensed Plumber & Electrician, a Certified Firefighter Instructor & ICS Instructor.
